Manou Gallo
Multi-instrumentalist, singer and dancer in Woya, one of the emblematic groups of the Ivory Coast, Manou Gallo travels Africa for long tours. In 1997, when she arrived in Europe, she became the bassist of Zap Mama, Marie Daulne's band, and performed on the biggest European and American stages. Since 2003, she has been leading her own groups and participating in many other projects (Manou Gallo Women Band, Groove Orchestra, Acoustic Africa and Music Machine). Through her stage presence and her incredible technique, she has become one of the leading women of this innovative Afro-European music that is appreciated all over the world. Bootsy Collins is calling her "the African Queen of Bass" and yes, it's simply the truth! Manou Gallo is one of the Top Bass Players worldwide and reaches new limits through her musical creativity. She’s a never seen powerful lady at the bass mixing funk and groove with her African heritage! An African woman who plays the Bass like a percussion instrument is extraordinary.
